Bruce Timm is no stranger to comic book and superhero projects. He was one of the driving forces on the creative teams for Justice League Unlimited and Batman Beyond. He also has a few choice words for the fans of comic book projects. Basically, he pointed out that fans of comic book movies are going to complain about a film or television series, but they are never going to stop watching. A major investor implied he pretty much said what most people know, but are not going to speak about out loud.
The complaints of the fans are not really complaints. Rather, they are expressions of creative differences. The really serious comic book movie and TV show fans are the ones who know the most about the characters and have the most emotionally-invested interest in the success of a particular project.
These same fans end up being more than a bit annoyed when changes are made to their beloved characters. Sometimes, they do not realize that a lot of people watching the films or television shows are meeting the heroes and villains for the first time. Changes in classic storylines might have to be made in order to properly tell the tale.
In the end, these fans may have their gripes but they are not prone to quit watching. And no matter how much they complain, the creative teams are always going to be appreciative of their favorite fans.
