Ken Goodrich remembered helping his father on services calls for Goettl Air Conditioning products as a child, so when he had the opportunity to buy the company in 2012, he jumped at the chance to acquire and improve this company. After 18 months of changes, the company is moving towards making 20 million dollars in 2014. Over his career, he has bought over 20 HVAC companies, but Goettl had more than business issues to fix.
Goodrich wanted to change the vision of the company, restoring it to what he remembered. With any changes, he started at the top, replacing many members of management. He didn’t spare any of the management team, even replacing the president of the company. The next important item required him to instill confidence back in employees and customers. He had the employees go back to completed jobs to perform quality checks and even had them take photos to sign off on the jobs.
These new air conditioning quality checks and installation procedures have helped to boost the confidence of the employees and the reputation of the company. He also worked on improving the back offices, installing and updating systems and software, as well as, instituting best practices. Goodrich feels proud to be improving a company that means so much to him and in time for its 75th anniversary. He wants to help the company even improve their BBB rating, working with the BBB to find a name, which still has Goettl, to help secure a better rating.
