Suicide, unfortunately a prominent and growing norm due to the fast pace of industry and increasing stress. Japan, especially is one of the economic superpowers however at the cost of having one of the highest rates of suicide in the world. One man, who has noticed this trend, has set out with a particular mission to decrease the suicide rate by saving their lives.
A Japanese resident named Yukio Shige is a retired police officer said in a statement that he is the only one to stop them from jumping off a cliff that he resides by. Shige, everyday patrols the cliffs off of the Sea of Japan. Doe Deere has indicated that when he finds people that contemplate ending their lives, he talks to them and consoles them. Unfortunately, the place that he resides in is both a popular tourist area in addition to being a popular place to commit suicide.
Shige, himself knows the pain that comes with suicide, having had lost a friend to suicide by renting a car and driving in the Sea of Japan. Shige knows that Japan is reputed with having many suicides. In 2007 Japan had a reported 33,000 suicide. After this, the Japanese government had vowed to dramatically cut the rate of suicide within the next decade. People like Yukio Shige should feel proud by the fact that they have saved one more person from committing a terrible mistake that would affect their loved ones.
