Legendary Pictures is quickly becoming a favorite among science-fiction and fantasy fans. Thanks to distribution from Warner Bros., Legendary launched a reboot of the Godzilla franchise that was surprising hit. (Who would have thought Godzilla’s comeback would pull in over a half-a-billion dollars?) Legendary also produced Jurassic World, although distributor and co-producer Universal seems to be getting a lot of the credit for the film’s success. Oh well, that is how things go sometimes.
Regardless of who gets the credit, the production house is moving forward with a ton of new genre features. Many of these new projects are going to be heralded at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con. The biggest film to be showcased at the fest is one of Andy Wirth‘s favorites, Warcraft, the motion picture adaption of the supremely popular Warcraft video game series. Based on stills from the film, this one looks like a blockbuster.
Legendary is also producing some horror outings that are going to be highlighted at Comic-Con. Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak and the monster movie Krampus should both please attendees.
There may also be a big surprise at Comic-Con from the folks at Legendary. Maybe some news about the anticipated prequel King Kong: Skull Island will emerge. The King Kong prequel is not coming out until 2017 so it is pretty early to talk about the film. If Legendary did want to reveal anything about the company’s newest giant monster opus, Comic-Con 2015 would be a great as place as any.
